Someday is today
We woke up to some light rain this morning. We packed up and started hiking around 6:30. We had to push 15 miles today. From Corliss Camp the trail takes a steep incline to the summit of Butternut Mountain. We continued to Devils Gulch, which is a challenging but fun route. Lots of rock scrambling and “cave like” areas. Dreamer and Tiny Turtle had a blast! We proceeded towards the summit of Belvidere Mountain. The summit is located an additional .3 miles off the trail. We took on the additional .3! We reached the summit and then headed up the fire tower located at the top! The view was spectacular. Not a house in sight, only trees and mountains as far as I could see.
We proceeded towards Tilliotson camp. When we were about .5 miles from the camp, Dreamer and Family Mule went ahead of Tiny Turtle and I. They were moving faster and wanted to get camp set up before we arrived. It was getting dark! Once Tiny Turtle and I arrived at camp, we found Dreamer and Family Mule had the water resupplied and the tent area ready to be set up. We set up the tents, which the tent area is NOT great but the shelter was full and other campers already had the good tent spots. We slept at a slant. Family Mule found a large rock away from the camp area to make dinner. Total miles…14.8!
