Day 30

We had an early start this morning. The trail was mostly an easy hike. Shortly after we began the hike we came to a suspension bridge. The bridge had an amazing view!  We refilled our water bottles at Roundtop Shelter. The water source is a well located .1 off the trail. Roundtop Shelter is a three-sided shelter with skylights. The trail had a gradual incline with a few rocks to climb, however nothing like in comparison to what we have already completed. We made it to Corliss Camp after 11.4 miles. .Corliss Camp had a cabin, which was fairly nice. We used our tents. The area has several great options for tent camping. The nice was very peaceful.

Day 29

Today was a zero day for Dreamer, Tiny Turtle, and myself. Family Mule hiked to Johnson and back today to pick up our package from the post office. I later found it he insisted on picking up that package because he wanted to be sure I received the birthday cards him and kids mailed to that post office for me! He completed 18 miles! While he was gone, the kids and I completed the resupply shopping and laundry!

Day 28

It was a chilly morning. We woke up early to watch the sunrise from the top of the mountain. It was gorgeous and worth a little loss of sleep. We packed up and headed out for today’s hike towards town. After a short distance we reached Whiteface Shelter. Read More

Day 27 on the Vermont Long Trail

Day 26 on the Vermont Long Trail

This morning we woke up at Puffer Shelter. It was too cloudy to see a good sunrise unfortunately. Family Mule was feeling much better today! He was back to himself and ready to go. Day 25 on the Vermont Long Trail

We were slow to break down camp this morning. We were not sure how Tiny Turtle was going to be feeling. We knew if he was still sick then we would have another night at this camp. Luckily, he woke up as though nothing happened the day before! We were very happy he was better and ready to go! Dreamer and Family Mule had their morning ritual of the Family Mule dispersing the dreaded power bars and Dreamer showing her disgust! Read More

Delayed Post

I would like to apologize to our readers for the long delay in completing our post about our trip on the Vermont Long Trail. I would love to say I have a very unique and amazing story to tell but simply put…after arriving back home, LIFE HAPPENED! Kids went back to school, sports began, holidays swiftly rolled in, and work went full throttle into busy season. Then before we knew it….months have past and here we are. We will be posting how our final days on the trail played out. Good thing we all kept journals with pictures!

Day 23 on the Vermont Long Trail

I did not get much sleep last night because dreamer left a protein bar in her backpack and the mice wanted it. I did not know what they were after until this morning when we found the hole and the protein bar. We also found the mice made it into the bear box! Read More

Day 22 on the Vermont Long Trail

The rain continued through the night. The sound of the wind and rain on the shelter was loud yet peaceful in a way. We knew we needed to move forward but decided to try to let the weather ease up before heading out. Read More
