Day 32

Last night was rough with trying to sleep on slanted ground. Family Mule and I woke up to Dreamer and Tiny Turtle’s tent on our tent after it rolled! We had a 4:30 am start to make today’s push. It was dark so we used our head lamps to see the trail. It was a chilly morning and everyone was pretty tired. We were moving very slow along the trail. We had to cross several muddy areas.   We just couldn’t get around a few of them without just sucking it up and heading in it. We proceeded 6.2 miles to Hazen’s Notch Camp. The water source was not the greatest but worked. The shelter is four-sided with a door lock because of bears. It has bunks and a small table in the center. We did not see many spots for tents around this shelter. After filling up our water bottles we proceeded along the trail. The goal was to reach Jay’s Peak by nightfall. The trail was a steep climb with some rock climbing to the summit. We reached the summit after 13.1 miles. The peak has a restaurant and sky-lift. We arrived after it had closed. We decided to spend the night on the peak. The view was magnificent. We ate dinner on a rock then relaxed on the deck of the restaurant. It was peaceful so we laid out our sleeping bags and slept there!
